Since 1997, Eco-Counter has developed unique and innovative solutions to count pedestrians and cyclists. Although knowing the numbers is the end goal, the system we use depends on the site – counting pedestrians downtown is quite different from counting them on mountain trails. This is why we have created specific products for the diverse environments that our clients work in.
Eco-Counter provides turn-key solutions for cyclist and pedestrian counting and data analysis. We offer a complete range of products and services to collect and analyze data, including high-quality counters, automatic and wireless data transmission, remote reading, and Eco-Visio, a professional online data analysis software, and in-depth exportable reports.
Eco-Counter designs and manufactures a wide-variety of solutions for bicycle and pedestrian counting. Reliable, accurate and robust, our counters are developed to enable you to precisely count bicycles and pedestrians in every configuration.
From autonomous systems to real-time sensors, we can provide the right turn-key solution for your project. Make bicycle and pedestrian monitoring easy by choosing Eco-Counter solutions.
Our goal is to provide you with turnkey services and solutions, so that you can make the most of your visitor data, simply and efficiently. For example, our reliable and accurate counting systems can send...

Company
Most of our counters are built using a technology limiting the need for electrical power to its minimum (our passive sensors are only activated when there is someone to count, for instance). The most power-consuming piece of equipment we sell, the Eco-TOTEM, is using on average 263kWh/year (sensor, logger and GSM transmission included), which is equivalent to a yearly consumption of a modern streetlight. All our other products are ranging from 22kWh to as low as 10W per year.
And yet, while we already sell products with the lowest consumption and the longest battery life as possible, we are also constantly improving in this field to limit our resource consumption, and limit our carbon footprint, more globally.
Because we try to put forward as much as possible renewable energy, we are improving our products to make sure batteries are only used when they are absolutely necessary. We have been working to provide our most power-consuming products with a solar-power option available.
This has come true for one of our product (the Eco-Display), and is under development for two others: the Eco-DISPLAY Classic and the CITIX (our infrared camera for high-precision pedestrian counting), giving ways for greener and more mobile counting devices & displays.
Because we think batteries are high-quality material, as well as a sensitive component, we have also set up a partnership with the NGO “Recylum”, a French NGO recycling all our batteries and electronic waste from across the world since 2015. Thanks to it, we comply with European laws, and we are ready to meet with the European directive 2012-19-EU expectations to collect and recycle electronic waste (65% of all quantities sold have to be recycled by 2019).
Labelled as an eco-friendly NGO, Recylum dismantles and depollutes equipment to split electronic devices and batteries into smaller parts in order to either reuse them to build new products or destroy them.
Their aim is to make as much as possible out of dismantled pieces. Each piece of material coming from waste retreatment will be either part of an “upcycling” process or a thermic valorization.
Our Recycled Posts are build thanks to the company “Plas Eco”. These products are using a recycled plastic, which is made from domestic and industrial plastics.
Sources for this material are usually from two kind of actors: households (plastics taking out from selective disposal), and industrial waste (crafting waste, uncommon or badly-produced pieces, etc.)
Crushed, washed and then classified according to their density, these materials are then mixed with a natural colorant then extruded in different kinds and shapes, which we are using to host our pedestrian counters in natural environments.
But of course batteries are not the only concern when producing our counters. We have implemented, since October 2010, a process to handle more globally all our industrial waste that is consequent to our production processes. In partnership with the company “Click Eco”, our industrial waste are taking care of, from their disposal to their recycling process (or destruction when necessary).
Our partnership with this company has given us the opportunity to track down our residual waste, and make sure they are as less polluting as possible.
Furthermore, this partnership was also set up for internal purposes, and since 2010 we also make sure every office in the company gets its own selective recycling bins to take care of general waste.
Sourcing renewable energy
Rewarded as a “caring company” listening to its employees’ good will, we are putting up work groups to boost the company’s creativity, and work altogether on improving our environmental impact. One first step was to set up solar panels in 2011 on the roof of the company, providing for 4 years slightly more than the company total energy consumption, and saving approximately 25 tons of CO2 per year (estimation).
Developing active transportation as a commute alternative for every employee
Working in the field of Active Transportation, the company do what it is praising for and provides facilities for bike commuters such as a secured bicycle storage area. Electrical and regular bicycles are also available to use for everyone working at Eco-Counter.
As a consequence, 20% of all the employees are now commuting by bike at least once a week, an ever-growing figure!
